[Cosme Review] Maybelline Lasting Drama Pen Gel Liner

Hi Everyone!!

It's Makeup Review time again!!

Today's star~~~or not? Is the new Maybelline Lasting Drama Pen Gel Liner~

I'm an avid fan of using gel liners cos it's really versatile.
In general, I'd definitely still prefer Kate's Gel Liner as compared to Maybelline's.
I did a short short post on my favourite gel liners 2 years back HERE and Kate topped the list and it still didn't change, Maybelline was in second.

But anyhoo~ I am a self proclaimed makeup junkie, and when I saw this new product on the shelf I just had to get it even though I know that most probably the contents are of the same standard as the pot ones. XD

The only difference between the Maybelline Drama Pen Gel Liner is that... it is contained in a pen.
Nothing else.

Ok, let's see what is good about this product first~

It is a real innovative idea to have this pen gel thingy, I applaud~
I usually have to bring out my makeup pouch out and having a gel liner in a pen just makes everything much more convenient.

Well... That's quite about it..

Now the cons...

I'm not sure if the stopper in red shown in the above picture was meant to be only a stopper for once or what, but I'm quite anal about keeping my gel liner moist, even with the screw cap I feel like it's gonna dry the liner out. I tried placing the stopper back but it became a hot mess.

The pen comes with a clicker to dispense the gel out from the silicone tip which can sometimes dispense TOO MUCH and I will be wasting a lot in the end cos I will have to wipe the excess off after use. With the traditional gel in a pot, I can gauge how much I need and there will be no wastage at all.

Now on to the application...

Is it waterproof? Kinda...
Is it smudge proof? Definitely not...
I compared using my Kate liner on 1 eye and the Maybelline on the other, the Maybelline one just smudges like crazy.
I guess when most people have experienced using something awesome, anything else that fares just a tad lower will not make the mark anymore.

The silicone tip also is another con..
Because of the hole that dispenses the gel, when applying it on the eyes, or if you can see from the above picture applied on my hand, it leaves empty spaces un-applied and I'll have to go through it with a second layer to fill up.
The application is just too uneven for my liking.

Conclusion: (Max 5 ♥)
(Maybelline Lasting Drama Pen Gel Liner )

Availability: ♥♥♥♥♥
Available in most Guardians/ Watsons.

Price: ♥♥
I can't remember the exact price but it was definitely at least about SGD$ 19.90.
Giving it 2 stars cos I didn't find worth the price comparing with the quality of it.

Will I repurchase this again?
Most likely not.. It might be acceptable to some people with the minimal smudging thoughout the day, but if I can have a choice of a non smudging gel liner, why would I want to compromise and risk being a panda?

I'll see you in my next post soon!!
Love y'all!!

  2. No problem~ I would really recommend the Kate Gel Liner if it is available in your country, but if not, just get the pot gel liners from Maybelline which is better I find in terms of application!
